The MLM2PRO is the most common device in ShotIQ uploads: a standalone radar-plus-two-camera unit that measures eight of its fifteen metrics directly — including club path and angle of attack, rare at this price — and reads spin from the printed pattern on RPT golf balls. The original MLM (MLM1) is a cheaper iOS-only unit that borrows your phone's camera and reports six core outdoor metrics.

Best for: Golfers who want measured club path and attack angle, video of every swing, and simulator play (GSPro, E6, Awesome Golf) for well under $1,000 — and who will buy RPT balls for spin.

Which numbers are measured — and which are computed

Every launch monitor computes some of what it shows. A carry distance is a trajectory model run on measured launch numbers; a smash factor is one measurement divided by another. Knowing which is which tells you how much to trust a change — and it is what ShotIQ's import gateway uses to decide which analyses to switch on for your sessions.

M = measured directly by the device · Mo = modelled from measured launch conditions · D = derived from two other metrics · C = a label the device assigns · E = estimated · — = not offered. Superscripts refer to the notes below.

• ¹ Needs a Callaway or Titleist ball with RPT (Rapsodo's printed pattern) and a Premium membership. Titleist RCT balls do NOT give spin on the MLM2PRO.

Spin, balls and stickers

Spin: MLM2PRO: spin rate and spin axis come from the printed RPT pattern (Callaway Chrome Tour w/ RPT, Titleist Pro V1 w/ RPT). Any other ball works for every other metric but spin is blank — and because spin feeds the carry model, non-RPT carries are best compared with each other, not treated as exact yardages. MLM1: Titleist RCT balls.

Club data: MLM2PRO measures club speed, club path and angle of attack; there is no face angle, so a curve can be described (launch direction + spin axis) but not attributed to face-vs-path. ShotIQ's Impact Lab shows path and attack for these sessions and keeps face-dependent reads switched off rather than guessed.

Subscription: Premium ($199/yr, $329/2 yr, $599.99 lifetime; 45-day trial with the unit) unlocks spin rate/axis, club path, angle of attack, Impact Vision video, Combine, R-Cloud web history and data export, simulator play. Without it you keep ball speed, launch, club speed, smash and the modelled distances.

Space and setup

• Indoors: 8 ft from ball to net plus 6.5–8.5 ft from the unit to the ball — 'a little more than 14 total feet'.
• Outdoors: 6.5–8.5 ft directly behind the ball, aimed down the target line.
• Impact Vision needs a clear view of the ball; level the unit with the in-app tool — path and attack angle depend on it.

How accurate is it?

Rapsodo's published comparison puts its ball-flight algorithm within 0.66 yd of TrackMan 4 and 2.24 yd of a GC3 on carry — but that test fed identical launch numbers into each model, so it validates the trajectory physics, not the MLM2PRO's sensors (Rapsodo says so itself). Treat it as repeatable rather than absolute: if it reads your 7-iron the same way every session, the trends are real even if a TrackMan would print a different yardage.

How to get your data into ShotIQ

R-Cloud (web, Premium)

1. Sign in at golf-cloud.rapsodo.com with your Rapsodo account.
2. Open Sessions and pick the session.
3. Use the export / download control on the session to save the shot table as CSV (Rapsodo's own FAQ still says 'no CSV' — that answer predates R-Cloud; if the control is missing, use a screenshot).
4. Upload the file to ShotIQ → Know Your Game → Add a session. ShotIQ recognises Rapsodo exports by name and maps spin, apex, launch direction and side carry shot by shot.

Format: CSV shot table (one row per shot) — Export has been inconsistent across R-Cloud versions in 2026. It is a Premium feature.

Rapsodo app (phone)

1. Open the session in the Rapsodo MLM app and switch to the shot list / data view.
2. Screenshot every page of the shot table (ShotIQ reads up to 10 images in one upload).
3. Upload the screenshots under Add a session → Choose Screenshots; declare Rapsodo MLM2 PRO as the device.

Format: Screenshots (AI read) — Works without Premium — the app shows the shot table either way.

Tips

• Buy the ball that matches the DEVICE, not the brand on the sidewall: RPT for MLM2PRO, RCT for MLM1.
• Tag range sessions 'Range session' and target-mode sessions 'Target practice' on upload — target shots go to Target Lab and never distort your bag carries.
• If the app shows fewer numbers than this page, check your Premium status first — that is where club path, attack angle and spin live.

Frequently asked questions

Does ShotIQ support the Rapsodo MLM2PRO?

Yes — a dedicated parser for the R-Cloud CSV, plus screenshot reading of the app's shot table. Carries, dispersion, gapping, Impact Lab (path + attack), coaching and the on-course caddie all run on MLM2PRO data.

Do I need RPT balls?

Only for spin. Everything else records with any real golf ball (foam and limited-flight balls don't register). Without RPT, spin rate and spin axis are blank and carries are modelled without measured spin.

Does the MLM2PRO work with Titleist RCT balls?

No. Rapsodo states RCT and metallic-dot balls will not produce spin on the MLM2PRO; it reads Rapsodo's RPT pattern. RCT is the MLM1's spin ball. Titleist does sell Pro V1 balls printed with RPT — that is the one for an MLM2PRO.

Why doesn't my MLM2PRO show face angle?

The hardware doesn't measure the clubface. ShotIQ describes your curve from launch direction, side carry and spin axis, and shows path and attack angle when Premium provides them — it never invents a face number.

Can I get spin outdoors?

Yes, under the same rule: RPT ball plus Premium. Rapsodo encourages RPT most strongly indoors, where measured spin keeps simulated flight honest.

How much space do I need indoors?

About 14.5 ft of depth: 6.5–8.5 ft from the unit to the ball and 8 ft of ball flight to the net, plus ceiling height for your swing.

What is the difference between the MLM and the MLM2PRO?

The MLM (MLM1) is iOS-only, uses your phone's camera with radar, reports six core outdoor metrics and no club delivery. The MLM2PRO is a standalone unit with its own two cameras and radar, works on iOS and Android, adds measured club path and attack angle, and uses RPT balls for spin.

What if R-Cloud won't export?

Screenshot the app's shot table — ShotIQ reads it. Or email the file you do get to support from the upload screen and we will map it.
