Upward Strike Tee Drill
🚀 DrivingBeginner3 sets of 8 drives
What it fixes: Positive attack angle — launch the driver on the upswing.
How to do it
- Tee it high (half the ball above the crown) and play it off your lead heel
- Lay a headcover flat on the grass about a foot IN FRONT of the tee, on the target line
- Tilt your trail shoulder down slightly at address and keep your sternum behind the ball
- Swing up through the ball and miss the headcover — clipping it means you're still hitting down
Pro tip: Feel: sweep the ball off the tee on the way up — the driver never touches the grass.
Watch it in your data
This drill moves Attack angle / carry — track it session to session with the Attack Angle guide open. A drill without a measured before/after is a feeling, not a fix: hit a baseline block, do the drill, re-measure the same block.
Why this works: the mechanics behind it are explained in Attack Angle — Hitting down or up — and why driver and irons want OPPOSITE answers.
