Every ShotIQ Feature, Explained
ShotIQ is organized around a simple loop: know your game (get trusted data), get better (turn it into practice), and play & score (take it to the course, and feed the course back into the data). This is the complete tour — what each feature does, what data powers it, and the improvement question it answers. Everything below runs on the same pooled statistics explained in How ShotIQ Works, so no two features will ever tell you contradictory stories about your game.

Hub 1 — Know Your Game
Build a trusted picture of your game first; every coaching feature stands on it.
Add a session. The front door: CSV, screenshot, or PDF from any major launch monitor or sim (see the device directory for per-device export guides). Every upload passes the import intelligence gateway — source detection, unit normalization, physics validation, and honest clarification when a file is ambiguous. You can attach a note to any upload ("into a 2-club wind", "new 7-iron") and that context follows the session into the AI's analysis.
My Sessions. Your full history, shot by shot, with a persisted AI analysis per upload that compares each session against your previous work with the same club and your longer history — so "was today actually better?" gets a data answer, not a mood answer.
My Bag. The bag hub: gapping (with the 8–20 yard quality bar on truly adjacent clubs), dispersion (your real ellipses per club), head-to-head club comparison, and club potential — the estimated yards and strokes on the table per club. Filter any view by session, time window, or range/course data source. It's also where you manage the bag itself: remove a club (reversibly — its shots are kept and restorable) and it disappears from every analysis, recommendation, and caddie suggestion at once.
Target Lab. Target-practice sessions — Rapsodo target modes and similar — scored on proximity: bullseye rates, distance windows, trends over time. Kept deliberately separate from your bag averages, because a soft wedge at a 60-yard flag is not evidence about your full-swing wedge.
Gear Lab. A/B test equipment head-to-head with your own data: two clubs, same role, measured against each other on carry, consistency and dispersion instead of feelings and marketing.
Progress. Every metric, per club, over time — the long arc. Carry trending up while its deviation trends down is what improvement actually looks like on a graph.
Metrics Guide. The in-app reference for every number your device records — the same explanations behind this library's metrics section, one tap from any stat in the app.
Hub 2 — Get Better
Turn the picture into a plan, and the plan into reps.
ShotIQ AI Coach & Game Plan. The coaching brain reads your computed game state — the single ranked list of what's costing you strokes — and runs a six-step loop: name the priority, explain the why, prescribe the practice, then verify the fix showed up in your next data. Ask it anything about your game; its answers cite your actual numbers and the concepts in this library, never generic golf-tip filler.
Practice Lab. The drill engine: every drill in the drill library with steps, reps and the metric that proves the fix — prescribed automatically from your flagged faults, plus structured practice sessions with a baseline-drill-retest shape, wedge distance-matrix work, and scored pressure games.
Live Range. Connect a supported launch monitor and get shot-by-shot coaching as you practice — a deterministic live coach that watches your session's pattern build in real time and speaks up when a fixable fault emerges.
Swing Analyzer. Upload swing video and computer vision finds the real key positions (address, top, impact and more) and measures body angles at each — fused with your launch data so the video and the numbers explain each other. Your positions, not stills you guessed at.
Putting Lab. Video putting-stroke analysis: tempo, stroke shape and consistency from your phone's camera, with honest gating — it measures what video can genuinely measure and says so.
Setup Lab. The address-fault scanner detailed in the Setup Guide: aim, ball position, tee height and routine patterns detected from your data and ranked by strokes. The cheapest fixes in golf, found automatically.
My Goals. Set a target — a carry, a consistency number, a handicap — and get a plan tracked against your actual sessions, with progress computed from the same stats engine as everything else.
Coach Connect. When you want human eyes, find a PGA instructor — and arrive as the rare student who brings organized data.
Hub 3 — Play & Score
Take it to the course; let the course feed back into the picture.
Quick Caddie. Slide to any yardage and get the club — chosen from your recency-weighted real carries, drawn with your actual dispersion ellipse over the target, adjusted for lie, wind and slope. One tap deeper: log the shot you just hit ("Hit it? Log this shot") and it becomes a real session that flows into your bag stats like any other data.
Caddie briefing & chat. A pre-round briefing built from your current game state — what's sharp, what's drifting, where the strokes are this week — plus a context-aware chat that knows your numbers when you ask "what's my play from 165 into wind?"
CourseIQ. Import a simulated round from any launch monitor's course mode and get hole-by-hole analysis through a universal round model: scoring patterns, approach quality, where strokes actually left you. Works launch-monitor-agnostically — the round is the round, whatever software hosted it.
Playing Conditions. What your carries play today: temperature, altitude and conditions applied to your real numbers, so "my 7-iron goes 150" becomes "my 7-iron goes 144 this morning."
Course Prep. Plan a course before you play it: tee-shot targets and approach strategy built from your dispersion, not your optimism.
Course & Rounds. Log real rounds and review them against your practice data. GPS-verified on-course carries feed the Transfer Score — the honest fraction of your range game that survives on grass.
Everywhere features
Home. A launcher that leads with one coaching headline — the top item from your game state — plus your Golf DNA (shape, typical miss, most reliable club, course-readiness) and the bag at a glance.
Learn. The in-app knowledge engine behind this library's concepts section: 25 interconnected concepts, searchable in plain language ("why do I slice"), with a curriculum personalized to what your data flags — and every explanation one tap from the stat it explains.
Sample Golfer demo. Empty-state browsing with a fictional golfer's data, so you can explore every feature before uploading — strictly quarantined from your real data, and it steps aside automatically the moment you have your own.
Handedness-aware analysis. Left-handers get correct interpretation everywhere — shape words are player-relative in the engine, so "your fade side" means yours.
Frequently asked questions
Which features work with a basic launch monitor?
The core loop — bag, gapping, dispersion, progress, coaching, caddie — runs on ball-flight basics (speed, launch, carry) that every unit records. Deeper delivery features (face/path curve diagnosis, impact analysis) light up when your device measures those; ShotIQ gates honestly on what's present rather than faking depth.
Do I need to use every feature?
No — the intended path is short: upload sessions, read the Home headline, follow the Game Plan, and use Quick Caddie when you play. Everything else is depth for when you want it, reading the same numbers.
Is my data locked in?
Your sessions live in your account and sync across devices; uploads are files you already own from your launch monitor. ShotIQ's role is analysis, not custody of your golf.
Where should a new user start?
Upload one range session (the device directory has the export steps for your monitor), then open My Bag and the Home coaching headline. Ten minutes in, you'll know your real carries, your honest gaps, and your #1 stroke-leak — which is more than most golfers ever learn about their game.
